Design and Technology: Texiles relates the work that students in key stage 4 aged 14-16 will be involved in to industrial practices. There are five case studies, each of which looks at the way a company designs and makes products. The companies chosen will have wide-ranging appeal to students, from a company which manufactures high-quality clothing to the manufacturers of Doc Martens.
There is a range of design and make assignments, focused practical tasks and activities in which students are asked to investigate, disassemble and evaluate familiar products and applications. The case study material in this book is entirely new and so teachers will find much to interest them, as well as motivating the students. The text is written to be very accessible and there are numerous colour illustrations throughout.
