Description

Part of the documentary series looking at the most significant battles of the Second World War. This volume traces the course of the lengthy campaigns to secure the Mediterranean theatre. Huge naval battles between the British and the Italians had secured British naval mastery of the region, while persistent German air raids against Malta reduced the island to rubble. At the same time, the British struggled with the Germans in the North African desert. Also featured is the history of the bitter fighting over Greece, invaded by the Italians and the Germans, and then by the British in 1944. Includes rare archive footage.
