Documentary about the life and work of the American classical pianist. Byron Janis began playing the piano at the age of four, studying under some of the most prestigious teachers in America at the time. After attending the esteemed Julliard School Janis became the first American to be sent to the Soviet Union as part of his world tour. In 1973 aged 45 Janis began suffering with arthritis in his hands and wrists. Undeterred by the pain, Janis continued to practise six hours a day and regularly perform live.
