Three films by French director Claude Chabrol. 'The Colour of Lies' (1999) is a psychological thriller set in a small town in Brittany. Valeria Bruni Tedeschi stars as Frederique Lesage, a police inspector assigned to investigate the rape and murder of a ten-year-old girl in the town. Suspicion soon settles on the girl's art teacher Rene (Jacques Gamblin) and his wife Vivianne (Sandrine Bonnaire) - but Lesage becomes convinced that celebrity journalist Germain-Roland Desmot (Antoine de Caunes) has some involvement. In the mystery thriller 'Masques' (1987), writer Roland Wolf (Robin Renucci) arrives at the country estate of television game-show host Christian Legagneur (Philippe Noiret), ostensibly in the hope of gathering material for a biography of Legagneur. But as Legagneur repeatedly slips through Wolf's net, refusing to give anything away, it becomes apparent that Wolf has reasons of his own for wishing to unmask his host. Isabelle Huppert stars in 'The Story of Women' (1988) as Marie, an illegal abortionist working in Nazi-occupied France during World War Two. As her new profession lifts her and her family out of poverty, Marie avoids the question of morality as she sidelines her husband and begins an affair with a Nazi collaborator.
