True, it's Premiership teams only (hence the name: no relegation battles here) clothed in authentic kits, and games are played in authentically detailed stadia. Sky Sports subscribers will recognise the smug, droning tones of Messrs Tyler, Gray and Keys, and the desire to turn off

the commentary is unbearable.

The one thing that sets this game apart from the other football titles is the STARS System, where you can earn better players by demonstrating your talents on the pitch. FA Premier League Stars 2000 is unique in that it offers the facility to gamble your team's players against the opposition. Lose a game, and you lose the player you wagered. Win it, and you get their star player. The computer game equivalent of 'going down the bookies' on a Saturday lunchtime. But this is cheaper and much more fun.
