Description

Documentary about the pioneering plastic surgery undertaken by surgeons at the Queen Victoria Cottage Hospital during the Battle of Britain in 1940, on air crew who had been badly burned in combat. In 1941, survivors and those who had benefitted from treatment at the hospital formed the 'Guinea Pig Club', so-called because everyone recognised the experimental nature of the treatment, which was then in its infancy.
