Collection of documentary films featuring the work of legendary maritime explorer and film maker Jacques Cousteau. 'The Silent World' (1956) is an Academy Award-winning documentary co-directed by Cousteau and celebrated auteur Louis Malle. Making use of the latest technology, the film was the first to offer a window into the weird and wonderful world beneath the sea and kick-started a whole new movement in movie making. 'The World Without Sun' (1964) also won an Academy Award. The film follows a team of divers as they attempt to live for a month in a purpose-built environment at the bottom of the Red Sea. As the divers explore their new habitat, Cousteau boards his signature yellow submarine to chart the sealife of the deepest depths. In 'Voyage to the Edge of the World' (1976) Cousteau and his team of divers set out in the research ship 'Calypso' to explore the uncharted lands and wildlife of Antartica. In search of new marine creatures and environments, Cousteau becomes one of the first explorers ever to dive beneath the frozen surface of the South Pole.
