Double bill of British film dramas from the 1930s. In 'The Last Journey' (1936) train driver Bob Holt (Julien Mitchell) is due for compulsory retirement though he desperately wishes to keep working. To make matters worse, he suspects his wife is having an affair. Depressed on his final train journey, he drives recklessly which inevitably has an impact on the eclectic mix of passengers onboard. In 'Return of a Stranger' (1937) chemist James Martin (Griffith Jones) plans to elope with his employer's daughter, Carol (Rosalyn Boulter). When their plans result in a murder, James finds himself the suspect and flees to South Africa. After enduring an accident that leaves him disfigured and, therefore, unrecognisable, he returns home to clear his name.
