French filmmaker Laurent Achard directs this psycho-drama based on the 1967 novel by Timothy Findley. Julien Cochelin stars as Martin, a quiet and introverted 11-year-old boy who watches from a distance as events unfold in his dysfunctional family home. His mother (Dominique Reymond) has withdrawn from family life and locked herself away in her room, while his grandmother (Annie Cordy) assumes control of the household, which is slowly but surely falling apart. When Martin's older brother, poet Didier (Pascal Cervo), discovers that his next-door neighbour and lover has decided to marry a local girl, all hell breaks loose - and the family finally disintegrates with disastrous results.
