This 1980s Aussie teen parody/spoof of the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta 'The Pirates of Penzance' follows the story of Mabel (Kirsty McNichol), an awkward and shy teenager who fantasises about romance, adventure and popularity after meeting Frederic (Christoper Atkins), a curly-haired and debonair young man dressed as a pirate at an exhibit in the amusement park. The film retains six (slightly altered for comic effect) songs from the original operetta, along with a host of slightly more rock 'n roll numbers.
