Four more episodes from the long-running animated sitcom. In 'Beyond Blunderdome' Homer attends a film preview and is overheard panning Mel Gibson's remake of 'Mr Smith Goes to Washington' by none other than the star himself. Alarmed at how out of touch with the common man he has obviously become, Mel (playing himself) invites Homer to help co-produce the movie. But Homer's action-movie take on the script isn't quite the success Mel is hoping for.... In 'Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie' Marge and Homer are told at a parent's evening that they must instill greater discipline in young Bart. When Bart remains ever wayward Homer hits on the only sanction that will bring his son to heel, prevent him from seeing the new Itchy and Scratchy Movie! But as ever with Homer's great ideas, all does not end as planned. In '22 Short Films About Springfield' we are treated to a rapid-fire view of some of the community's lesser-seen characters, including Principal Skinner inviting Superintendent Chalmers over for dinner, and Millhouse's father in a Tarantino spoof. Finally, in 'A Star is Burns' Springfield plays host to a film festival, with prestidigious guest critic Jay Sherman (Jon Lovitz). After the judging panel has cast its votes the decision hangs delicately between Barney Gumbel's art movie, and a vanity project from powerplant supremo and all-round bad guy Mr Burns. But which will win the coverted prize?
