Award-winning documentary chronicling the events of a rape and murder case in the US, and the social injustices that led to the subsequent false imprisonment of the accused, Daryll Hunt. When a white newspaper editor was brutally raped and murdered in North Carolina in 1984, suspicions quickly fell on local African American Daryll Hunt. Although he protested his innocence, an all-white jury sentenced him to life imprisonment, based on the false testimony of a former Ku Klux Klan member. The film traces the arduous route to freedom for Hunt, which finally culminated in his release in 2004.
