Triple bill of films about mind games, psychological struggles and self delusions. In 'The Weight of Water' (2002), Jean (Catherine McCormack) and Thomas (Sean Penn) attempt to rekindle their failing marriage by going on a sailing trip with Thomas' brother Rich and his girlfriend Adeline (Liz Hurley). But Jean becomes tortured by images of the past, her husband's betrayal and the grisly murder of two young girls over a century ago. She begins to get more and more entangled in the past and not only discovers a link between Adeline and Thomas, but also feels a sinister connection to the murders herself. In 'Basic Instinct' (1992), detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) is assigned to investigate the case of a rock singer murdered with an ice pick. He can't help but notice the similarity between the death and a scene in the latest book by the singer's novelist girlfriend Catherine (Sharon Stone). She insists that she is being framed, but as Nick slips into a torrid affair with her, she begins to look increasingly guilty. In 'Light Sleeper' (1991), Willem Dafoe plays John La Tour, a drugs delivery man working for Ann, an up-market dealer (Susan Sarandon). An ex-junkie now in his mid-forties and suffering from insomnia, John begins to see the importance of changing his life and making a fresh start. At the same time, he begins to recognise his feelings for Ann, while she sees a foray into the cosmetics business as her way out of her old lifestyle. However, it is not an easy path.
