Sick of fighting the same old, bog-standard monsters in your run of the mill epic fantasy RPGs? If the answer is 'yes', you might want to dip into the world of The Witcher. Heck, even if you're not, you might want to dip in anyway. While the world of The Witcher might seem new to you, it ain't. It's already been documented in Polish novels, short stories and comics and hails from the mind of renowned Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. As things stand as players enter the game, the world is still reeling from the conclusion of a long series of wars between the empires of men and elves. Players take on the role of a Witcher going by the name of Geralt who's been considered dead by most of his mates for a while now. He re-enters the fray missing some pretty sizeable chunks of his memory. Its' bad news for him, but good news for you, since it gives the other characters plenty of scope to fill you in. As a Witcher, you're genetically and magically enhanced to go out and combat monsters, and you'll be dragged into a rich world of greys and intrigue, where racism runs riot, ecology struggles against production, and the lines between freedom fighting and terrorism are blurred. In this world where the line between good and evil is all but non-existent, decisions you make will never be clear and will affect the path the game takes. A lot of time has been taken over the real-time combat system. In fact, the moves have been based on real medieval combat techniques, with medieval fighting experts over at Frankfurt's renowned Metric Minds studio having provided motion capture to produce 600 authentic combat animations. Technical enhancements in this edition include faster loading times alongside improved combat responsiveness and precision. Following feedback from fans, the English script has been re-worked, while extensive amounts of the voice-over has been re-recorded for the English and German versions, all to deliver an even more immersive and involving story experience. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition comes in a highly desirable, content-packed box set, the full contents of which include:
