The term "hip hop" refers to the cultural milieu surrounding largely black music from the 1970s onwards; including rap, jiggy, electro music, graphic design (grafitti, music graphics, and flyer and poster design) and fashion. From the inception of hip hop, in the 1970s, to the present day, this books covers the history of cover artwork of hip hop and rap album and single sleeves. It is organized chronologically by music style and interspersed with informative and amusing copy throughout. Divided into roughly chronological eras and genres including the Electro era, the Afrocentric era, and the Jiggy era. Each chapter has an informed and satirical introduction.
