The novel takes us on an epic journey as the main character Jamie travels the region.Jamie struggles with the realisation that his life is not what he was brought up to believe. His new life emerges, and Jamie finally escapes the misery he has suffered at the hands of his own family, having to fight the many prejudices that life throws at him. He manages to straddle both sides of good and bad, honest and dishonest, striking up some unlikely friendships along the way that give him hope for a better life. His old life haunts him, but that is not the only thing that does as he encounters the strange and unexpected on his travels.
