Richard H. Immerman is Professor and Edward J. ButhusiemDistinguished Fellow in History at Temple University andMarvin Wachman Director of its Center for the Study of Force andDiplomacy. The recipient of the Society for Historians ofAmerican Foreign Relations' Bernath Book Prize in 1983 and itsBernath Lecture Prize in 1990, he served as SHAFR's presidentin 2007.
His most recent publications include The OxfordHandbook of the Cold War (2013) and Empire for Liberty: AHistory of U.S. Imperialism from Benjamin Franklin to PaulWolfowitz (2012). From September 2007-December 2008, he servedas Assistant Deputy Director of National Intelligence for AnalyticIntegrity and Standards and Analytic Ombudsman for the Office ofthe Director of National Intelligence. He currently chairs theHistorical Advisory Committee to the U.S. Department of State.
