Many emotional stories are told in books and television documentaries about the 3,000,000 British children evacuated from densely populated areas in the U.K. in World War Two by the British Government but little is told about the children whose families refused to entrust their children to total strangers. This episodic book tells of the eventful lives of three resilient children living on a social housing estate in heavily bombed Peckham throughout W.W.2. The factual bones of their stories are fleshed with just a smidgen of fiction and readers will see a rarely shown facet of World War Two through their eyes.
