Description

Douglas Sirk directs this 1950s melodrama starring Fred MacMurray as Clifford Groves, a successful businessman who feels taken for granted by his selfish wife and spoiled children. Feeling neglected and trapped in a thankless role, he runs into an old flame, fashion designer Norma Vale (Barbara Stanwyck), and begins to meet up with her. But his son becomes suspicious of his activities and convinces his siblings that dad is having an affair. They begin to psychologically torment their father, and ultimately drive him to seriously consider leaving his family.
