Q. You have been asked, whether you had been tried for desertion? A. I was tried for absenting myself from the regiment. Mr. Gnrney. You talk of absenting yourself from the regiment, how far off did you happen to get? A. About two hundred miles, f Mr. Serjeant Shepherd. After you were tried for that, you were forgiven by the commanding officer? A. I was. Q. And you were permitted by your commanding officer to join your regiment? A. I was. Q. And you have served ever since? A. Yes; and I have been on the Continent during the war. Q. Where have you served since you joined the regiment? A. In London, at Colchester, and Chatham, t served in the late expedition to Holland; and I was on the Continent.
