Not illustrated. 1918 Excerpt: ...wife is named Sarah, she is aged about 56 years and is in very delicate health; only two of my children reside with me, the others being married or settled in places for themselves. My children who reside with me are Joseph, who is between 13 and 14 years old, and Sarah Ann, who is about 8 years old. They are healthy and can do as much work as becomes their age. The land held by me above mentioned was and is subject to the payment of $470.64, being the amount of dower, the interest of which is payable annually to Mary Smith, the widow of Leonard Smith. On the first of April next there will be due the said Mary Smith the sum of $28.20, being one year's interest for her dower. The said sum of $470.64, the amount of the dower is to be deducted out of the sum of $1700.00, the consideration money, for which the land was sold by me. The debts due to Peter Stiteler and Frederick Mostler, as returned with my first application, have since been paid by me, but to raise the money to pay them I had to borrow $600.00 at one time and afterwards $100.00 from Peter Young, for which he has judgments in the Common Pleas Court against me, and the same are still due and unpaid. I still owe Mary Williams her debt of $100.00, and I have never paid her interest, as I have not been able and she has had the charity not to push me. The small debts due to Caleb Evans, Doctor Harris, George Neiler and Jacob Rhodes & Company, I have paid but some small debts amounting to about 25 or $30 to tradesmen and the store in my neighborhood have been contracted by me since I made my first application.
