Description

Peter Lorre makes his first appearance as secret agent Mr. Moto in this 1930s crime drama. On the trail of diamond smugglers the detective boards a freighter to Shanghai where he meets Bob Hitchings Jr. (Thomas Beck), whose father, the ship's owner, has entrusted him with delivering an important letter to his company's branch in the city. During the trip, Bob falls for the attractive but mysterious Gloria Danton (Virginia Field) who disappears when they dock. While Bob looks for Gloria, Mr. Moto searches for the mastermind behind the smuggling.
