Aliens: Dark Descent thrusts you directly into the path of the deadliest creatures humankind has ever had the misfortune of stumbling across in this real-time action strategy game. You command a squad of marines on a mission to stop an outbreak on a remote moon before it's too late. You're the commander, they're your weapon. The game, which comes from Battlefleet Gothic: Armada developer Tindalos Interactive, has you facing off against iconic Xenomorph creatures ranging from Facehuggers to Praetorians, Alien Queens and a host of others, including rogue operatives from the insidious Weyland-Yutani Corporation. The levels are large and open, which doesn't exactly make for a comfortable fight when you see those dots on your motion tracker start to multiply. Your squad, when commanded well, can see off a single Xenomorph well enough, but catch the attention of one and the rest of the hive will be alerted. The worst case scenario is triggering an Onslaught, which will see a wave of seething horror crash your way. Your only hope is to find a wall to set your backs against, lay mines and turrets across every possible point of egress and hope that your suppression fire can do the rest. Delivering orders is intuitive and time will slow down just enough for you to keep up, but this is nail-biting stuff with potentially deadly consequences. Death in Dark Descent is permanent, so once you lose a soldier they're gone. Have you got the stuff to eliminate the Xenomorphs and make it out of there alive?
