Others of the Adams clan found joy in the midst of war - Boots and Polly achieved their hearts' desire and Eloise married her swashbuckling Colonel in Alexandria.
For others, there were worries, as Tim was taken prisoner of war, German bombers still raided London, and Sammy and Susie had to overcome many difficulties to secure Phoebe's future.
