Description

As legend has it, "Word of Ember blazed across the land, and the town of Torchlight flared to life." Ember is the essence of magic. It's the sort of thing that draws men towards it, promising power. So it is that the townsfolk of Torchlight have dug deep into the ground, seeking out the rich veins of ember beneath.

The problem is, they're not the first to seek it. Miners accidentally break through into a buried civilisation and evil races towards the surface. Torchlight needs a champion, or it will surely be overrun. That, as you might expect, is where you step in. First up you'll have to forge your character. You'll pick between the Destroyer, who specializes in melee attacks, the Vanquisher, who focuses on ranged attacks but also has some stealthy skills, and the Alchemist, who's pretty much a mage. The class system may sound simple, but it's deceptively rich. The fact that you have pets that can carry items and perform basic attacks certainly helps liven things up and keep them interesting!

The gameplay takes the form of hack 'n' slash brawling. You'll make your way through caverns, labyrinths, and fiery pits as you seek to lay evil to rest. Each play through the game is quite different since, despite the appearance of well thought out level design, dungeons are actually randomly generated.

If you're not going to get Torchlight for yourself, do it for your dog!
