Transforming Birmingham New Street - Richard Kirkman

When the project is completed in 2015, the station will be enclosed by a giant atrium, allowing natural light throughout the station and to all 12 refurbished platforms. The new concourse will be three and a half times bigger giving more space for the 140,000 passengers who use the station every day. There will be better pedestrian links to and through the station, with new entrances and a new public square improving connections across the city. In addition there will be a new shopping centre including a larger John Lewis store. This book looks at the development and improvements to the station over the last 5 years.
