Experimental film maker Ben Rivers directs this feature-length documentary following the life of a hermit in rural Scotland. Jake Williams lives alone deep in the forest in one of Scotland's most remote areas. Throughout the seasons he survives by frugal means and passes his days working on various unconventional projects, thus living out the dream that began when he was working at sea for two years in his youth. As an element of the film's narrative, Rivers uses old cameras and hand develops the 16mm film, which shows all the evidence of the elements to which it has been exposed.
