Description

Two documentaries looking into the hidden side of the Second World War. 'The Riddle of Rudolph Hess' examines the mysterious events of 10th May, 1940, when Deputy Fuhrer Rudolph Hess commandeered an aircraft and flew to Britain. Arrested as soon as he landed, Hess' motives have never been explained, and the whole affair was covered by the British in secrecy. Was he trying to negoatiate peace? Or was there a high-ranking Nazi sympathiser in the British government who had invited him over? 'Himmler's Castle' looks at the Westphalian castle Heinrich Himmler had designated as the secret headquarters of the SS, and examines the evidence for the sinister SS rituals and rites that were said to take place there. What exactly were Himmler's intentions, and did he believe as many have supposed that the SS castle would become the Vatican City of the new 1000-year Nazi Reich?
