Description

Made-for-TV drama telling the true story of the Jewish uprising against the Nazi occupation in WWII Warsaw. After the formation of the Warsaw Ghetto, and with an increasing number of his fellow Jews being taken away to the Treblinka concentration camp, schoolteacher Mordechai Anielewics (Hank Azaria) begins putting together a resistance movement known as the Jewish Fighting Organisation. Hiding away weapons and building strategic emplacements, the freedom fighters make the best of their limited means as they prepare for the direct confrontation with the Nazi forces which will take place during April and May 1943. Filmed using a combination of dramatic recreations and remastered archive footage.
