Biographical documentary in which Stuart Urban follows his father Garri as he revisits the sites in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union where he overcame a series of seemingly insurmountable adversities during the Second World War. A Polish-born Jewish doctor, Garri Urban escaped from the Nazi invaders of his home country, fell into Russian hands, then escaped from the gulag. He was tortured by the KGB, and possibly became some sort of double-agent before making his third and final escape to the West. The film shows how his charm, determination and sheer chutzpah got him through this unbelievable sequence of events alive and undefeated.
