The young Blue Bloods of Manhattan are older and wiser, they have come into their powers in full. Oliver Hazard-Perry, former human conduit, is now a vampire, and the head of the Coven.

Alas, Oliver's girlfriend and human familiar, Finn Chase, is found murdered on the eve of the Four Hundred Ball. The celebration was meant to usher in a new era in vampire society, and to mark the re-unification of the Coven and the rebuilding of the Repository of History after years of war and decay. Oliver is backed into a wall, how can he prove his innocence when his was the only blood found on Finn's dead body? But help arrives at the last minute-Mimi Force and Kingsley Martin, his old friends, arrive from the bowels of Hell to save their friend. Together the three of them untangle the mystery of who is behind Finn's death and Oliver's frame-up.

The answers lie deep in vampire lore, as the new coven discovers they have old enemies. And if they are going to meet this new threat, they might need some more of their old friends as well.
