In 2005 only 37% of 18 – 24 year olds used their vote. Indeed in many constituencies the turnout overall at the last General Election was below 60%. People have become disillusioned with politics and in particular with our MPs following the expenses scandal. In October 2009 a group of 25 sixth form students formed a Young Enterprise Company. They wrote to every MP and posed the following questions:1.
What is a typical day for an MP? 2.
Is there anything in particular that you have done for your constituents that you are most proud of? 3.
Why should young people vote in the next General Election and subsequent elections? Over 40 MPs responded and this book gives you an incredible insight into the daily work of an MP.
