David Wilkinson directs this documentary in which he sets out to prove that his home city of Leeds was the birthplace of film. Wilkinson examines the 125-year-old claim that Louis Le Prince shot the first silent film in his English garden in 1888, predating both Thomas Edison and the Lumière brothers. Although the box that he used to realise moving pictures still exists, the revolutionary photographer who created the moving images mysteriously disappeared in 1890, just weeks before he was scheduled to present his discoveries to the world.
