William's War - Priscilla Winn

Set in the latter part of 1944 to May 1945, " William's War" tells the story of what life was like for people living in Kent during World War 2. Seen through the eyes of William Turner, a 10 year old boy from Petts Wood, Kent, we learn about the hardships of rationing and the terrifying air raids, which destroyed houses and resulted in many casualties. Yet, despite all the suffering caused by the war, everyday life had to go on. People learnt to adapt to the restrictions which were imposed upon them. " William's War" is an uplifting story of people helping each other and endeavouring to make the best of living in the face of adversity.
