In the 1940s, young Wilma Rudolph was struggling to overcome the crippling effects of polio in the segregated South. The disease had left her unable to walk or run. Her unstoppable determination allowed her to beat the odds and by the age of 16 she was training to compete in the 1956 Olympics, where she won a bronze medal in the 400 metre really race and went on to win a further 3 golds.
