Description

Collection of three war documentaries. 'British Battles of WWII' looks at a number of British battles during the Second World War. Although British Forces went into action at the very outset of the war in 1939, it was not until 1940 that the land war began. For the Allies it was the beginning of a period of constant defeat. 'Desert Battles of WWII' describes how the desert wasteland of North Africa provided the setting for some of the toughest fighting of WWII. These breakthroughs, particularly the victory at El Alamein in November 1942, are regarded as the turning points of the war. 'Battle of the Atlantic and Battle of Britain' looks at two keys battles for Britain during the war. The Battle of the Atlantic was a fight for Britain's survival. Not only was it the longest campaign of World War II, it was also perhaps the most crucial. The Battle of Britain, the desperate struggle to defend Britain's shores against the unrelenting German aerial onslaught, resounds through the years as the RAF's finest hour.
