Youth work and mission today - Nick Shepherd

The church has always been at the cutting-edge of youth work. Long before Connexions partnerships, the church was working to reconnect young people to their community. Long before the 'new deal', the church was offering the young opportunities for purpose and hope. Long before the citizenship agenda, the church was fostering a sense of neighbourliness. Long before ASBOs, the church was demonstrating to young people that transformation was a real possibility. In "Church Unlimited", experienced youth workers from various denominations and contexts tell up-to-date stories of being a church without limits in mission. The contributors don't gloss over the negatives or shirk the challenge to 'tell it like it is'. Rather, they lay their stories before us as an encouragement to us to do our part. Now it's our turn. Will we pick up on the hints offered in this book, respond in kind, move beyond the walls of the church, and take our place in God's mission to young people?
