iPhone 17 leaks: new camera specs for each model

The new iPhone 2025 is likely to be announced on 9th September, but what can we expect? If the rumours are true, the iPhone 17 line-up will include the usual models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, with the addition of a brand new, highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air model. One of the main features that could have customers upgrading to the new iPhone 17 is the camera specs, but what are the actual iPhone 17 camera rumours currently circling the internet? Rumoured camera specs for the iPhone 17 range

Current iPhone 17 camera leaks suggest that the series is expected to have the usual camera spec gap between models. The iPhone 17 camera is rumoured to have the standard two cameras like the iPhone 16: 48-megapixel main and 12-megapixel ultrawide.

The iPhone 17 Pro camera and iPhone 17 Pro Max camera are also said to have an increased ultrawide camera spec at 48-megapixel and include a third telephoto camera. Based off last years models, the telephoto camera could be 12-megapixel with 5x optical zoom; however, one of the iPhone 17 camera leaks suggests that the telephoto camera on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max camera will have an improved 8x optical zoom.

As we’ve never had an Air iPhone model before, iPhone 17 camera leaks for the rumoured iPhone 17 Air camera are very limited. One rumour circulating online suggests that the Air will only have one camera, a 48-megapixel main shooter, similar to the iPhone 16e.

Another big one out of all the iPhone 17 camera leaks is that the front-facing iPhone 17 cameras on all models will be upgraded to 24-megapixels. This is double the camera spec of last year’s iPhone 16 range, so should be a significant improvement for users who prefer the front camera.

If the rumours of the iPhone 17 camera leaks are true, this could be a notable improvement in camera quality compared to the iPhone 16 series; however, this is only apparent within the rumoured specs of the iPhone 17 Pro camera and iPhone 17 Pro Max camera, as the iPhone 17 camera is expected to be on par with the iPhone 16.
