Olivia Colman wins Best Actress Oscar

The Favourite actress Olivia Colman took home the Best Actress award at the Oscars, beating out Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, Melissa McCarthy and Yalitza Aparicio.

British born Colman, who starred in cult comedy Peep Show, made an emotional speech when she accepted the award.

The Best Actor gong went to Rami Malek, who gained immense critical acclaim for his portrayal of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Both Colman and Malek took home Best Actress and Best Actor at the BAFTAs just a few weeks previously.

Green Book won the highly coveted Best Picture, as well as Best Original Screenplay. Mahershala Ali was awarded Best Supporting Actor for his role in Green Book, his second Best Supporting Actor nod in just three years. He won in 2017 for his role in Moonlight.
