Once opened, the Fold model stretches to an even bigger 7.6". The Fold series is for those who want to use both a standard and larger-sized screen without having to carry both a phone and a tablet around with them.

In contrast, the Flip range offers users a compact phone without losing out on display size. The Flip series has a cover and main display, with the cover display measuring only 2.1" on the latest Flip4 model. This cover display is designed for interacting with widgets and showing notifications, so you don't have to flip open your phone to do simple tasks such as reading a text or checking the weather.

Battery

Battery is a big thing for many phone users, after all, you want a phone that can last the entire day without it running out of juice. Luckily both the Flip and Fold models have great battery life – but which one is best, the Samsung Galaxy Flip or Fold?

Design

The Galaxy Z Flip series has an incredible choice of colour options along with the addition of Bespoke Studio which enables you to personalise your phone. The main difference between the two models in terms of their design is the hinges on the devices and how they bend. The Flip phones have a horizontal hinge that allows the Flip model to go from a 4-inch compact into a full-sized smartphone.

The Galaxy Fold model has a vertical hinge, that allows your phone to fold out from a standard-size display into a 7.6" display worthy of a tablet.

Cameras

Durability

Both the Fold and Flip models have an IPX8 water resistance rating, meaning your phone can handle a splash or two from the rain.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 have upgraded display panels using the new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, making both devices the toughest of Samsung's foldable models so far. Older models such as the Galaxy Fold3, Galaxy Flip3 and Galaxy Fold2 have the previous Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
