Best upcoming Xbox One games to look forward to in 2024

It can be super frustrating to wait months for a new Xbox game to release only to find out that your console isn't included. So for those who decided to stick with their trusty Xbox One console rather than upgrade to the latest Series X or S consoles, we see you and your need for new games!

We've compiled a list of new and upcoming Xbox One games to get you excited for the year in store. Keep reading for all the new Xbox One games in 2024 and their release dates!

The Outlast Trials

5th March 2024

While no longer classed as one of the upcoming Xbox One games of the year, The Outlast Trials is still fresh on the shelves and is very much still a new Xbox One game to consider trying out this year.

This first-person survival game is the third instalment in the Outlast series, serving as a prequel to the first two games and making it perfect for those new to the series or diehard Outlast fans. The Outlast Trials is set during the Cold War, where you'll have to use stealth and skill to evade the monstrous test subjects lurking in the dark.

You can choose to go solo and play alone, or take advantage of the four-player co-op option and get some help from your fellow gamer friends.

Botany Manor

Originally released in 2023, Botany Manor is finally making its way over to Xbox and has landed on our list of the best new Xbox One games to try out.

In this first-person puzzle game set in a Victorian English manor, you play as botanist Arabella Greene as you explore the manor and find clues to help you grow rare plants and finish Arabella's botanical research book.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

One of the most anticipated upcoming Xbox One games to be released this year is the role-playing video game Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was funded through the crowdfunding site Kickstarter, where it gained mass success and received a total of 4.5 million dollars at the end of the campaign – making it the third highest funded video game of all time on the platform.

The game is set in the continent of Allraan and focuses on Seign Kesling, a young officer of the Galdean Empire and Nowa, a remote village boy as they both join a search for magical rune lenses.

Due to the game's huge popularity, the developers created and released a side-project game in 2022 called Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising to make up for the lengthy wait for the main game.

Lunar Lander Beyond

Atari has taken the 1979 classic Lunar Lander and expanded it into the upcoming Lunar Lander Beyond. You'll play as the newly appointed captain of the Pegasus Corporation as you guide your team through a series of dangerous outer space missions.

This revamp includes new visuals, new simulation and exploration mechanics and a much more involved storyline. If you liked the OG Atari game, then there's a high chance you'll enjoy Lunar Lander Beyond too. With a release date of 23 April 2024, there's still time to add Lunar Lander Beyond to your list of new Xbox One games to try!

Another Crab's Treasure

Next on our list of best upcoming Xbox One games is Another Crab's Treasure. In this soulslike adventure platformer game, you play as Kril the hermit crab as he hunts for treasure in a crumbling underwater world plagued by a mysterious curse.

Since Kril had his shell repossessed, you'll need to use the trash around you as shells to protect Kril from the lethal predators you meet on your journey. The aim of the game is simple: find treasure, hone your skills, defeat your enemies and get back your shell!

System Shock

If you played the original System Shock back in 1994, then you'll be thrilled to hear that we'll be getting a remake this year! The new System Shock is already available on Windows, but you'll be able to play it on your Xbox One in May.

System Shock is an action-adventure game set aboard a space station in a cyberpunk vision of the year 2072. You'll play as a security hacker who is tasked with taking down a malevolent artificial intelligence called SHODAN.

While exploring the space station, you'll need to fight SHODAN's forces and stop the artificial intelligent computer system from creating cyborgs and destroying Earth.

This remake features higher-resolution graphics, improved lighting effects and enhanced character models, making it a must-play on our list of Xbox One new games.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Destiny 2: The Final Shape is one of the long-awaited upcoming Xbox One games that fans have been dying to get their hands on. This will be the eighth expansion pack of Destiny 2, so it isn't a game you can play without prior knowledge of the previous games and expansion packs.

In this action role-playing first-person shooter game you'll play as a Guardian to seek out and stop the series villain the Witness from creating the Final Shape. You'll need to complete missions, battle against enemies and protect the universe from the Witness.

Looking for some animated dungeon crawler new Xbox One games to try out this year? Then you'll want to give #Blud a play!

This 90s cartoon-inspired animated dungeon crawler combines the horror of freshman field hockey practice with a vampire apocalypse, blurring the line between action RPGs and hyperkinetic 90s cartoons.

You'll play as Becky Brewster, the new kid in town, as you use your trusty field hockey stick to fight against the vampires trying to bleed the town dry.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

For the Elden Ring fans out there, you'll be excited to hear that the first expansion pack will be available to play in June of this year with the caveat that Xbox One gamers will have to buy digital versions.

This role-playing adventure platform game takes place in a completely new world from Elden Ring called the Land of Shadow, where players will roam the vast maps and meticulous dungeons where menacing enemies roam.

While there's not much known about the upcoming expansion pack so far, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is expected to offer new areas, mechanics, equipment, weapons and NPCs to the Elden Ring game.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Another expansion pack to look forward to this year is Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. While technically not a completely new game, we're considering it in our list of new Xbox One games for 2024!

In this expansion pack, you'll find a completely new storyline alongside the original story told in Shin Megami Tensei V, filled with new locations, demons, and choices to make. The new storyline is called Canon of Vengeance and is centred around new characters and an army of new demons to either battle or befriend.
