iPhone 16 battery life: what users can expect from the latest model

The countdown for Apple’s latest phone is almost over, with the iPhone 16 release date rumoured to be in less than a month. As we count down to the big reveal, there’s one iPhone 16 rumour that’s generating a lot of buzz, and it’s all to do with battery life!

Rumoured iPhone 16 battery life

All models of the iPhone 16 range are expected to have larger batteries, with one rumour suggesting that the iPhone 16 will have a 6% larger battery, rising to 3,561mAh. This small jump might not cause a noticeable difference in day-to-day use, but it will allow the new iPhone to endure a full day’s use with a bit of charge left to spare. The iPhone 16 could also see an increase in charging capacity, supporting 20W wired charging and 15W Magsafe charging.

Another iPhone 16 rumour states that iPhone 16 line will have graphene heat sticks, enabling the series to stay cool for longer and in-turn help to better manage the battery life, so it doesn’t overheat with continued use.

Rumoured iPhone 16 Plus battery life

The iPhone 16 rumours suggest that the iPhone 16 Plus will have a -9% reduction in battery size to a 4,006 mAh battery. None of the rumours explain why the ‌iPhone 16‌ Plus’ battery would shrink compared to the iPhone 15 Plus’, especially since the iPhone 16 Plus is rumoured to have identical features and share many of the same components. However, it is a rumour and should be taken with a pinch of salt!

As mentioned on some of the other iPhone 16 rumours, battery life can be further enhanced by efficiency savings elsewhere; so, even if this model does have a smaller battery, it could still last just as long as the iPhone 15 Plus. Like the iPhone 16, the iPhone 16 Plus is said to support 20W wired charging, with 15W Magsafe charging, which is more than the current iPhone 15 Plus.

Rumoured iPhone 16 Pro battery life

The iPhone 16 Pro rumours suggest that the model will have a 3,577 mAh battery, seeing a +9% increase compared to the iPhone 15 Pro. If the rumours are true, this model will have the biggest battery increase out of all models in the iPhone 16 range. If this rumoured battery size is combined with efficiency improvements made elsewhere, then it could be an even higher percentage.

The iPhone 16 Pro is also rumoured to use stacked battery technology, which will help increase energy density and prolong the battery’s lifespan. Alongside this, the iPhone 16 Pro is rumoured to support 40W wired fast charging and 20W MagSafe charging, a significant improvement compared to the iPhone 15 Pro.

Rumoured iPhone 16 Pro Max battery life

Some iPhone 16 Pro Max rumours suggest that this model will feature the longest-ever battery life of any iPhone. One iPhone 16 leak details that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature a 5% larger battery than the iPhone 15 Pro Max and if coupled with other efficiency savings, it could help to boost the device’s overall battery life even further than these rumours suggest.

One rumour from an analyst suggests that in the iPhone Pro Max, Apple will adopt a stainless steel casing for the battery, potentially increasing the cell density by 5-10%. Another rumour details that the ‌iPhone 16 Pro Max is potentially moving towards a standard rectangular battery compared to the L-shaped battery design used on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Like the iPhone 16 Pro, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also rumoured to use stacked battery technology and support 40W wired fast charging and 20W MagSafe charging.
