The baseline iPhone 15 has a few key upgrades when compared to Apple's previous iPhone 14 flagship model. While the iPhone 14 offers some excellent hardware such as Apple's A15 bionic processor, a dual camera setup and an impressive Super Retina XDR OLED screen, it seems the newer iPhone 15 has some extra features up its sleeve.

Display and performance

The iPhone 15 features the Dynamic Island, a feature which Apple held exclusively for the Pro and Pro Max iPhone 14 models.

Another difference between iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 is the processor, with the iPhone 15 sporting the A16 processor that was only available on the 14 Pro and Pro Max models.

While the news of the A16 processor becoming available on the flagship model is positive, the bad news is that the  Pro and Pro Max sport a newer A17 Bionic chip.

Design

The iPhone 15 sports a smaller bezel, with the mute button being swapped out for a new customizable Action button. Apple also changed the charging port of the iPhone 15 (and all future iPhone models) from the standard Lighting port to USB-C.

If your household has a mix of Apple and Android devices, then you'll benefit from the switch as Android chargers will now be compatible with the new iPhone. However, if you've spent years curating an Apple-only ecosystem, this change is likely to be more of a hindrance.

Battery

The iPhone 13 uses a 3,227mAh battery, which is almost identical to the iPhone 14's 3,279mAh battery – so we didn't expect to see much difference between the iPhone 15 vs 14. However, the iPhone 15 has a 3,349 mAh battery, so it did receive a slight battery improvement.

Cameras

The iPhone 14 boasts a 12MP main and 12MP ultra-wide set of rear cameras, while the iPhone 15 sports a 48MP main and 12MP ultra-wide. If you want a camera upgrade but don't fancy paying the high Pro prices, the iPhone 15 is definitely worth considering.

Final thoughts

When it comes to deciding on the iPhone 15 vs 14, it's up to you to decide whether it's worth the upgrade (but we think it is!)
