Screen issues delay the release of the Samsung Galaxy Fold

The Samsung Galaxy Fold, the smartphone giant's latest device, will not launch on 3rd May in the UK as originally scheduled. Due to ongoing issues with the screen of the device, Samsung are doing some damage control before the roll out.

A number of users took to social media to share their issues with the device, notably the screen malfunctioning which made the device unusable. Issues arose after as little as 24 hours.

In their statement, Samsung stated, "To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Fold.

"…Initial findings from the inspection of reported issued showed that they could be associated with the impact on the bottom exposed areas of the hinge. There was also an instance of substances found inside the device affecting the display performance."

In spite of widespread coverage of issues with the screen, early reviews have been positive for the Samsung Galaxy Fold, touted as the next generation of smartphone. Outlets like T3 praised the fact that despite the phone being an early adopter of the foldable technology, it's a finished product in its own right.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold was set for release in America this week, but Samsung have confirmed a new release date will be announced in "the coming weeks".
