We've taken a deep dive into the best selling PS games of all time, to figure out what the most popular PS games are so far and how you can get your hands on them. From two-player to open world games, here are some of the best PS games on the market so far!

Resident Evil 4 (Remake)

Platform: PS4 and PS5

Released in March of 2023, Resident Evil 4 has hit the ground running and is one of the most popular PS games of this year.

The original RE4 was released back in 2005, so it's technically not a new game – however, if you remember what the graphics of games looked like back in the early 2000s and you've seen how the remake looks, you may disagree!

Along with a fresh set of clean graphics, Capcom has made a few tweaks to their game when compared to the 2005 original. Auto-save is now a thing, there are lots more side missions and new monsters to fight!

Whether you've played the original game or not, the Resident Evil 4 Remake is well worthy of a play and is one of the best PS games of 2023 so far.

WWE 2K23

Platform: PS4 and PS5

Released in March 2023, WWE 2K23 is 2K's latest addition to the WWE game franchise and is one of the most popular PS games available right now.

Like the previous game, WWE 2K23 features a hybrid of arcade and simulation gameplay. Showcase play now features cover star John Cena and allows players to recreate key moments of the wrestler's career.

A welcome addition to WWE 2K23 is that online multiplayer mode has now been added to the Royal Rumble match, making WWE 2K23 one of the best online PS games so far in the WWE franchise!

If that wasn't enough, MyRISE now features two distinct storylines: "The Lock" for male-created superstars and "The Legacy" for female-created superstars – so everyone can enjoy this gameplay!

Grand Theft Auto 5

Platform: PS3, PS4 and PS5

While this entry isn't new by any means, it's still one of the most popular PS games to date and, after 10 years, is still (to many gamers' dismay) the latest Grand Theft Auto game on the market.

GTA 5 is an action-adventure game set within the fictional state of San Andreas in South California. You can choose to play the single-player story which follows three protagonists and their attempts to commit heists, or online multiplayer mode with up to 30 other players.

Released in 2013, GTA 5 is the newest GTA game Rockstar Games have published, although they claim to be working on a new addition to the franchise. For those looking for the best open world PS games, any GTA game will do, but GTA 5 reigns supreme!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)

Platform: PS4 and PS5

It's no surprise that a Call of Duty game has made its way into our list of most popular PS games.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) is the latest instalment of the series, released in October 2022. It's easily the best-looking Call of Duty game to date, with refined graphics that are brought to life on PS5.

Not to be confused with the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 released in 2009, this new instalment is less of a remake and more of a loose reboot. It shares many of the same characters, themes and ideas as the 2009 version, however they're set in different timelines and follow different stories.

Whether you're looking to get stuck into story mode or you want to play online with your friends, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) is a great choice for first-person-shooter game lovers!

Hogwarts Legacy

Platform: PS4 and PS5

If you're a fan of JK Rowling's wizarding world, then Hogwarts Legacy will no doubt be one of your go-to games if it isn't already.

Released in February of 2023, it's one of the best new PS games on the market right now, letting gamers live their wizarding fantasies. Set in the 1800s, this is the first game the franchise released that doesn't relate to or mention Harry Potter.

This immersive RPG game will have you searching through Hogwarts as a student (you can even pick your Hogwarts house!), learning how to use magic. If you're looking for some of the best open world PS games to play this year, give Hogwarts Legacy a try!

Minecraft

Platform: PS3, PS4 and PS5

Released back in 2011, Minecraft is still a fan favourite with gamers, making it one of the best selling PS games of all time and landing it a place on our list of most popular PS games to date.

Minecraft is a 3D sandbox game that lets players explore a virtually infinite terrain to discover raw materials, craft tools and build structures. Depending on your game mode, you can also fight hostile mobs and compete or cooperate with other players.

As far as open world games go, Minecraft offers a strong community and is suitable for people of all ages, making it one of the best open world PS games for younger gamers.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Platform: PS4 and PS5

Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most popular PS games to date for those looking for an open world action-adventure game.

Set in a fictional USA in 1899, you'll have to ride across the rugged heartland of America with the Van der Linde gang, fleeing from federal agents and bounty hunters. Released in 2018, this western-themed game can be played from a first-person or third-person perspective and follows outlaw Arthur Morgan as he completes missions.

Although the title may confuse a few gamers, Red Dead Redemption 2 is actually the third entry in the Red Dead series and a prequel to the 2012 game Red Dead Redemption, meaning you can play it before playing the original without getting confused.

Dead Space (Remake)

Platform: PS5

Made especially for the PlayStation 5, the Dead Space 2023 remake was released in January of 2023 and offers far more than the original survivor horror game ever did, making it one of the best PS games for PlayStation 5 gamers.

Dead Space (2023) is a remake of the original 2008 video game and although it shares a lot of similarities, the remake has a few improvements worth shouting about. The graphics have been upgraded significantly and the lighting has been dimmed to give off a spookier vibe.

The biggest change worth noting is the game's ending; we won't give out any spoilers, but there's a new alternate ending that's sure to pique many gamers' interests!

FIFA 23

Platform: PS4 and PS5

EA Sports have made some of the best selling PS games of all time, many of them being FIFA games, and FIFA 23 is no exception Released in September of 2022, FIFA 23 is the latest installation of the FIFA franchise and offers plenty of new features and upgrades to enjoy.

FIFA 23's biggest improvement is the addition of female teams. For the first time ever, you can now play the best teams from Division 1 Arkema and Barclays FA Women's Super League.

You'll also be able to play the new World Cup game mode and use the cross-play feature to play with users of the same platform generation – so if you are a PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X/S owner, you can play multiplayer with the owners of these devices.

The Last of Us Part I

Platform: PS5

No to be confused with the original The Last of Us game, The Last of Us Part I was released in 2022 as a remake offering much better graphics and a few extra features.

Thanks to HBO's recent The Last of Us series release, interest in the game (both the original and the remake, as well as the sequel, The Last of Us Part 2) has risen, bringing The Last of Us Part 1 into our list of most popular PS games so far.

In the game, you play as Joel, a hard-hearted survivor in a fungal-infested post-apocalyptic world who's tasked with escorting a young girl through what's left of the US in hopes of creating a cure for a deadly fungal infection.

If you don't have a PS5 and want to experience the hype of The Last of Us, you can play the original game on PS3 and PS4 – it's essentially the same as the remake, just without the improved graphics and extra game modes.
