The Dynamic Island

Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro

While the Dynamic Island isn't a new feature, most Apple fans will be excited to hear that the popular feature is now available on all models in the iPhone 15 series. For the first time, we're finally be able to enjoy the Dynamic Island without shelling out extra to buy a Pro or Pro Max model!

For those that already have an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max, this won't be a new feature for you, nor will it be a new design change either.

New glass back

Apple has tweaked the iPhone 15 design, opting for a new glass back on the entire iPhone 15 series that has colour infused throughout the material. The iPhone 15 series also has a custom dual ion-exchange process for the glass and an aerospace-grade aluminium enclosure for extra durability

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models don't sport the same new glass back as the flagship model. Instead, the 15 Pro models are the first iPhone to feature an aerospace‑grade titanium design and are the lightest Pro models to date.

Charging port

Thanks to European regulations, the iPhone 15 series has a new charging port.

A new EU regulation is mandating a common charger for all electronics in an attempt to reduce e-waste, and the chosen charger type is the USB-C. Since the iPhone uses a lightning port, this means that Apple has to switch it in favour of a USB-C port. The deadline for the switch is 2024, so Apple has decided to make the switch on all new models from here on out.

This switch has brought Apple's smartphones closer in line with other USB-C Apple products such as the iPad and MacBook, which is definitely handy for those who own multiple Apple products.
